A visual exploration of people’s emotional connections to everyday objects
For our final project in the 1st semester at the Royal Danish Academy, we were assigned to create a visual interpretation of Olga Ravn’s book The Employees (De Ansatte). We had the freedom to choose the medium, and I decided to create a zine, which I chose to call Tilknytning (Attachment).
In The Employees, the story often mentions the attachment the employees have to various objects. This gave me the idea of creating a zine showcasing different objects that hold significant meaning for people I know. I asked around and gathered a small collection of objects. Then, I requested each person to write a brief text describing their attachment to the object. The result is this little zine, which has now become a compilation of objects and their significance to their owners.
